| Post subject: | Crash to desktop after random time |
After a random amount of time (sometimes an hour or so will pass, sometimes it's right when I login to the game) it will crash. The only change I've made recently is a new graphics card. I've tried to use older drivers but the issue still persists. I've tried to re-install the game, tweak settings, etc., and nothing so far has helped. The issue is always with d3d8.dll: Faulting application name: boot.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x5c1d6625 Faulting module name: d3d8.dll, version: 10.0.17134.1, time stamp: 0x12998905 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x000534c1 Faulting process id: 0xf4 Faulting application start time: 0x01d50dd9887f2f1c Faulting application path: C:\Users\Terry\Downloads\Ashita\ffxi-bootmod\boot.exe Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\d3d8.dll Report Id: 32e84c69-83c4-4b73-b9e2-dd59f210ca94 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: I looked up the exception code it gives and it's some sort of memory access violation, but I don't know how to fix that. Anyone have any experience with this issue? I use Windows 10 with a GTX 1060. Any help would be appreciated. |

Looks like a native crash in the Ashita launcher. Going to be pretty hard to figure it out without debugging symbols or something. One thing you can try though that might help is just get rid of the offending DLL codepaths and use a DLL proxy. You can find that here: https://forums.ashitaxi.com/viewtopic.php?t=141 Won't really give us insight to what's going but might make your problem go away, at least. |

It appears to have. I left the game running over night with the proxy and it didn't crash. Still don't know why it started in the first place, but all is good as far as I can tell now. Thanks Seliox! |
