During my time on Sylph, I used to make custom DAT files for faces and equipment. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time finding any of the files I created. (So far, I have only found one: http://ffxidats.caarrie.com/index.php?topic=894.0)

Does anyone have a collection of FFXI DAT mods from over the years, or know a source where such resources may be found? Particularly, I'd like to find my HQ face mods (created by Wingladeous).

you have probably found that ffxidats.caarrie site too if you googled ffxi dat file modding it seems to have a bunch of collections, and tools if you want to do it yourself.

just to be clear tho, modded dat files are allowed on the server?

As long as the dat mods used are aesthetic only, there should be no problem. UI / audio / texture replacements, 'should' all be fine, as long as it doesn't give you any kind of an undue advantage.

Is there anywhere Nasomi has said anything official on the topic. Things like this recent project https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fxpDQxmQfwQ get me excited about ffxi again. I would really like Nasomi's blessing on this. Reshade and some fresh textures can do wonders for a old game like this. I don't want to get in trouble over some aesthetic improvements.

You're good to go. I feel like I recall him saying it's fine, but I can't find it in the IRC logs now.

I managed to find some pictures of some of my old DAT mods (thank you wayback machine!), I wonder if anyone has a collection of old DATs with any of these? They're about 10 years old, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
