Hey all, I recently played FF XI free trial but I cant progress much with the limitations imposed and I was thinking about signing up here! I really want to play a traditional true summoner in an MMO and FF XI is really the only game that has it, however I liked that in retail I could use trusts, where as with an old school server I can do that, I also have next to no experience with the game originally, the reason playing solo was so appealing is that I could play on my own time, as I'm in the Army so I don't really have loads of free time.

I was wondering if maybe some of you guys had some pros about playing on this server that you could share that make it worthwhile regardless or help me quell some of my concerns?

well first of all,

after 1500 formation assuming your not held too late in your unit for something silly theres plenty of time to play. 2nd if you have no nostelgia to the game and find that every shortcut is better, then your best is retail. these private servers are mostly for people who enjoy things before it got easy with abysea. especialy if you liked the trust system... the thing is this game is for people who like doing things with other folk and the hardship it brings obtaining items with them. Its a team base effort and it should never feel like everything can be soloed. I think if you want a private server where you login and theres always something to do and people to do it with, this is the game for you. if your just looking to fly through content alone use NPCs that replaces player slots and login to get items and log out. Retail..

is what i like to say but its a private server and with its own bugs, but regardless it strives to be something fun of a memory when time was better. its still a fun game with interesting people to play with.

Gotcha, well for me its less of a question of nostalgia vs breezing through content, rather I just really want to experience Summoner lol. Im usually home by 1700 if I'm lucky but sometimes me and the wife might watch anime or do something so idk if I can utilize my time fully to progress in this game. I'll have weekends ofc tho, my unit is pretty good and I've gotten every weekend. Although with RE3 and FF 7 remakes dropping soon and I'm buying both, I just dk if I feel like spending more money on retail ff xi in addition to that hence I may want to give this server a try. I'm downloading it right now anyways because since its free and I'm cooped up during COVID-19 I might as well give it a shot!

sounds good,

Linkshells are basically guilds in the game look me up and i can hook you up with mine. /whisper wege hopefully you will like it. this is a game set for your pace not others. So even fi you dont unload all the hours into the game its still up to you to progress your own character at your own pace. You arent rushed to endgame content here.
