Post subject:  Worth playing for someone who didn't back in the day?
Title pretty much, I was very young when I tried FFXI. Im a huge fan of the series and I raid in FFXIV, but there's not a lot for me to do since it's nearing the end of the expansion. I understand there are a lot of differences, but my main concern is, is it too late to actually have that FFXI experience? And would I be better off trying this or the live servers? As I've heard the live servers are somewhat just single player experiences now. Thank you.

FFXI nasomi and retail FFXI are very very different.

It is not to late to join, it is actually a very good time while the server is at it's highest population.

The difference is, Nasomi = harder, need to play with others, things take time. Retail: Easy, solo, quick mode.

Hell no!

It's not 100% exactly like retail in this era, you will never be able to have it 100% since we don't have the source code, but having played both it's close enough that its nostalgic and enjoyable. Best part is it's free, so you lose nothing. Start installing it now.

There are quite a lot who didn't play FFXI back in the day and now do on Nasomi! It's worth it.

What's harm in trying? Get past the bugs, there are super amazing friendly people I know in the LS I am they are they help lowbies out a lot with sub job items or low level missions etc.

The server has been steadily increasing player base over the last 3 years. It looks like its in for the long haul.

I have seen a huge increase lately of new players I have been on server a few weeks and have noticed it.

If you never played FFXI, then Nasomi is the closest you will come to the FFXI the veterans remember. Is it 100%? No, but it's close enough, and getting closer each update.

For me follow the quest icons from starting city to end game is boring. It is like a maze that ends up being a straight line. On FFXI there is as much or as little guidance as you seek. There are hundreds of paths to take, so there should always be something to keep you engaged.

There is a reason we all came back, and that is trials, and frustrations with strangers build strong bonds and friendships. Tackling some of the hardest content takes 18+ players working together.

So grab your sword, axe, bow, wand, or whatever you use to bludgeon critters, and come join us in the fun!

I returned because of the Youtube post by Xoo. I am enjoying it now although there are still the occasional "emo" and "i know it all" peeps. Far and few in between- a lot of helpful people and /shout out to Tepoe!! and Nashi!!
