Hey everyone, I'm Dron. This will be my first time playing FFXI ever. I've played WoW for 10 years and other MMOs here and there along the way. As many of you may know WoW is now trash so I've decided to give FFXI a shot for a fun challenge. My friend Jord suggested I should try this game out due to the difficulty and strategy involved. I'm looking forward to seeing many of you in-game  Any pro tips greatly appreciated. P.S. Learning all the keybinds is a nightmare haha. |

/welcome ^^ Compared to WoW, FFXI is much more difficult and more along the lines of a classic MMO like EQ. Community is a HUGE part of the game and even more so on a low population server. What you do and say will be remembered by those you will mostly likely need to play with at some point. It can feel 'slow' if you are just trying to grind exp as the strategy of the game comes with the spells/abilities you gain and your role in a group. There are no 'spam' spells/abilities like WoW or most modern MMO, meaning you must use what you have wisely instead of spamming and waiting on re-clicking cool downs. Grinding is only a small part of the game, Community, Crafting, Missions, Conquest, Quests, Farming, Limit Breaks, BCNMs OWNMs, NM camping, HNM/God fights, skill ups, mining/harvest/fishing/logging, exploring, etc are all intertwined and keep you always having something to do. This is a free private server and some things dont work as intended, so ask questions, there are lots of good people here, take your time and meet people and you'll have a blast. |
