Character Name: Caleigh Played FFXI? Yes Came from: Cerebrus named Shalira Years Played: 2005 to 2015 How you found us? An ad on a banner showing come back to ffxi and someone replied with this link in it! Other MMO's? Not really. Anything else? You can still see my previous stats, jobs, gear etc. on the old ffxiah.com website as Shalira on Cerebrus. Nice to meet everyone and so far am having a fun time other than I can't figure out why treasure chests don't drop, like the blue ones back in the day. Did I miss that somewhere? |

Thanks and my next really stupid question. How come money doesn't drop from mobs either? Is that a glitch on my end or same thing? If you don't get gil from mobs anymore how do you earn? Level crafts and sell? Thanks! |

Gil drops from beastmen and can be treasure from chests/coffers. I don't know how retail has it these days but on nasomi, its not required to level crafts for gil. You could gather materials and sell them instead of using them yourself. Same thing goes with equipment drops. One way or another, players have to be somewhat dilligent if they expect any sort of monetary reward... but theres more than one way to do it. |

Sinclair stated it pretty spot on - Gil does drop from beastmen mobs. If you start in San D'oria try making your way to Ghelsba outpost around 8-10 levels. You can build a nice little nest egg for a starter character by selling gear drops to npcs, fire crystal stacks on AH, and gil drops from mobs. Bats show up pretty heavily as well and wind crystal sell very well. Bat wings you can turn into a quest NPC in N.Sandy for 200 gil per 2 wings. Also, rabbits drop rabbit hides which get 120-140 gil (can't remember which) from a quest in S.Sandy. Turn 3 hides in for the gil reward. |
