Played FFXI? yes, a long time ago
Came from: Montreal, QC, Canada
Years Played: a few months in 2006
How you found us? google search
Other MMO's? a little bit of everything (i.e. WoW, FFXIV [which is really boring], etc.)
Anything else? looking to relive that nostalgia

In order of need for this server:

1) 100% legit, knowledgeable, non-afk, non-dual boxed White Mages

2) BRD or COR

3) Tanks like PLD, NIN

4) Any other class

5) THF

Is this accurate? The other day when I was looking for members for my party all I saw were WHMs, RDMs, BLMS, and THFs. I think maybe good ol' fashioned DDs are more needed... maybe just a coincidence :p

I've been feeling discouraged from leveling WHM because I don't get any party invites at lv50 :-/. I'm also being told that no one wants WHMs in their PTs because they want a RDM instead lol. Not to derail the thread but it's been making me reconsider which will be my first 75.

i'm not terribly experienced in the high end but from everything i've seen at up to ~60 on one job and ~30 on several others no one in a levelling party is ever going to complain if their healer is whm or rdm -- at least not anyone reasonable. I've noticed that a lot of players are just woefully misinformed or too bent on weird old thought patterns and assume one class of a function is better than another, but the truth is in levelling parties you aren't gonna see much of a difference -- a healer of any type, a tank of any type (even war/anything or sam/war up to the higher levels have been effective in my experience... ninja is good but if someone INSISTS on it, it feels like "so the healer can be lazy" more than anything) and damage dealers of any type (as long as it's not bugged PUP) should be more than fine. and i know, have heard, and have seen with my own eyes people making all kinds of unorthodox parties work and work well. i wouldn't listen to anyone saying ANYTHING about job favoritism until maybe some endgame stuff. and even then it seems like everything has times and places it's extremely useful.

and yeah, THF is good but absolutely everyone is levelling is for treasure hunter. so it's overplayed.
whm, rdm and blm are heavily played as well but they're all great classes and good ones are so hard to come by. please play these classes if:
A) you're going to be a WHM/RDM that, as has been said, is actually not AFK or multiboxed; i feel like at least 50% of the WHMs on the server are boxed alts of a tank or melee dps in your party and are basically useless exp sponges; or
B) you're going to be a RDM/BLM that actually magic bursts and pays attention. Those are so few and far between but boy is it a good time when you find one.

other than that, play anything you want. and don't let anyone tell your DRG sucks or that WHM isn't as good as RDM (seriously wtf? whm are godlike, people who say this are just babies who can't play 5 minutes without refresh)

Well if anyone wants a non duo-boxing WHM50 who has up to date spells with a dark and light staff waiting for lvl 51 send me an invite 8-)

EXP is different than using the job for things at 75. They treat BLM the same way, but love them dearly at 75.

I was debating leveling WHM because it was something I didn't do back in retail...but it also hurts my soul. I will be leveling BRD and a tank though, so I guess I'll be covered. Haha
