Hi there. I loved FFXI back during the RoZ-early ToAU days. I happened to come across this site and thought the idea sounded pretty interesting, and that I'd like to give it a try. However, the only problem is that I am unsure if this is capable of running on a Mac using Wine/Wineskin. I don't have the capabilities to use Parallels or Boot Camp at the moment, and Wine is the only program I can use for this sort of thing. Would this version of FFXI work under Wine? Thanks in advance and I'd really like to try out the game.

Sorry for the double post, but I had one other question I wanted to ask. This is the first time I've ever come across "private servers"; never really known about them before, and I was just wondering where this server stands regarding legality and etc? Is there some kind of risk involved if I decided I wanted to play on a private server? Thanks.

Heyyy I just started only a day ago!

Since all the files you need are free to download, why not give it a try. FFXI was WinXP technology I'm quite positive it would work.

The risk.... IMO it's not illeagal in a sense that you're breaking the law or anything. What I heard tho is that SE changed many file pointers everytime they do updates which would make the game incompatible with private server. Nasomi needed to do a 10+ hours debugging to get the server working again. I got even more impressed 9f anything after learning about this :)
