Nasomi Fishing Skill up Guide

Notes:
Skilling up fishing is a slow process
Nasomi server has raised the cap from 50 to 100
Every time you skill up you receive a notification of your current fishing level
If you end fishing you lose your bait (that includes Lures)
Monsters can be fished up
It is possible to catch fish much higher than your level(40++) but it's very rare
There is no limit to the number of fish you can catch per day.
"Dry Up" was added where you will stop catching fish and need to move to a new spot. (March 1, 2019 patch)
"Something caught the hook!" Small fish on the line
"Something caught the hook!!!" Large fish on the line
"You feel something pulling at your line." Usually Garbage
"Something clamps onto your line ferociously!" Monster
Garbage and monsters fished up will not give skill ups
There is a glitch where when you go into your "Craft Skill" menu your skill will appear much higher.
Rigs can catch more than 1 fish. (March 1, 2019 Patch)

Hey thanks for writing this up!

I just started playing again and have really been wanting to get into fishing and this answered all of my questions!

Back during retail I made a lot of my money early on fishing moat carp, hoping I can do the same on here.

So I was fishing for about an hour and didn't see any skill up prompts. Are there still the incremental 0.1 skill up prompts or only when you get a whole level?

What were you catching? What's your skill level? The skillup's are .1-.3, but it'll announce your level every time you skill up. It's a visual bug, so you'll see your fishing skill in the menu is 10, but when you zone it'll go back to 1, because it thinks you leveled up every time you skill up. Refreshing the character on zone fixes it. It's visual only, and has no effect on actual fishing.

I went to rolanberry fields yesterday to catch stuff. I went from 28 to 33 catching dark bass and giant catfish and went from 33 to 35 catching red terrapin and dark bass with shell bugs.

I'm level 0, I just started fishing. I went to Selbina using little worms and was catching cobalt jellyfish and rusty buckets. I fished for probably an hour straight and didn't get a single skill up. I got an invite to a pt, went and did that for a bit. Came back afterwards and on my very first cast I got a 0.1 skill up. Idk if it was just a crazy coincidence or if I was bugged earlier?

Pay attention to what you got the skillup on. Each bait has a preferred fish, so while you catch 4-5 fish with a bait, there's going to be one that will show up more than the others. Find the bait that is preferred by the fish that you're targeting, it may take some trial and error.

Qufim and shrimp lure should get you herring, east ronf and minnow should get you shining trout.
