Hey Hey yall, had some questions about fishing gear for yall today. First question is about rods. What is the difference between a clothes pole and composite fishing rod? I know comp. fishing rod is way more expensive and the preferred rod but I had a hard time finding additional details on the reasoning for the choice. Second is a question on bait. What does bait effect and in what scenario would you use insect paste/sabiki rig/little worms/etc. Thanks again for the help guys and stay awesome! |

Not all fishing rods Work correctly clothespole does work but bite rate seems really low while comp rod will catch most fish from 0-98 with a good bite rate. Bait is just selected based on what fish your trying to catch. |

Is there any place that list what bait you use for what fish. From what I've tried my self I can see that insect paste catches moat carp. |

https://ffxiclopedia.fandom.com has a ton of info about each fish/zone/etc., including recommended bait/rod/zones for many of the more common targets. http://great-blue.jp/?lng=en is a goldmine of info, too. While much of the data there is dated, it's very much in-line with what you'll find on Nas. Nightcoder (this is probably the most detailed one that accounts for somewhat-recent changes to fish NPC prices, etc.) Probably a few more in the Wiki worth checking out, but those should all be a good start. |

It seems odd - some fish just don’t bite certain rods, but if they bite at all the rate seems similar from rod to rod (like, ebisu doesn’t catch black sole any faster than a composite, etc.). |
