Post subject:  Gravity

Can anyone confirm off the top of their head that gravity here has a -10 evasion reduction? Retail does not anymore but as can be seen from ffxi encyclopedia's talk page and history from retail era it did exist. I can test this out later if nobody knows for sure but it seems like it might be common knowledge. Thanks!

Some testing by a couple of friends ended with the result that gravity does reduce evasion.
Based entirely off of /check results.

When? Because as of a few months ago the same tests resulted in no difference.

Can someone give me a rundown on how to do this experiment? Is it just casting gravity on stuff that's just above low-normal or normal-high tier evasion thresholds and seeing if the /c readout ever changes? Seems simple enough, but I could be missing something.

You might consider bringing along lots of Accuracy + or Accuracy - gear if you're going to experiment with that, so you can try to find the exact evasion down that gravity is worth, too.

As of a month ago, I tested this at 75 on IT mobs (birds at Misareaux) and it was reducing evasion. IIRC, it was reducing by 12 or 13. So maybe even more on EM or lower checks.

This is an ancient thread, but it's very worth updating it due to new players to Nasomi using the forum search feature.

Completely random that this happened, and within days me coming to this forum section and seeing the post... but I can confirm what OperationFail has proffered here. Linkshell asked the exact same question, we discussed a little how the spell was supposed to work on retail and how it might not apply on Nasomi. Then the idea was quickly formed to find a mob we could check the Con of, and see if we could remove it's high evasion with Gravity. LS member tested and confirmed, Gravity is lowering evasion as it is supposed to. Don't know if it has always worked properly on this server, but as of Nov of 2020 and onward, it does.
