You do not seem to comprehend what having a discussion is and are taking my posts out of context as if they disagree with the previous posts. People who respond after you aren't disagreeing with you by default. Jesus christ.

Purchasing and using out of era spells, regardless of it's in town or not, should not be done - because of what you said AND because of what I added. My statement was IN ADDITION to yours. Not by itself.

they didn’t even know it could be used outside of town and then use the spell as much as you want until you zone. You jumped right to that illegal situation and it felt like you were accusing them of doing this or even thinking about it. they were just sharing their experience where they tried to use the scroll, didn’t know it wasn’t allowed or enabled and lost their money.

For what it's worth, I'd argue that most people buy spells ahead of time so they have them when they level up in a zone.. leading to the situation Nabutso talked about.

Nabutso added additional, and practical, advice about the rules to clarify what you said (That you can still buy them, but they disappear).

it's not hard to imagine someone that doesn't know the rules buying spells to use, dinging and using them, and not realizing they're cheating. I'd probably suggest people stop assuming Nabutso is being a dickhead 100% of the time, just because he frequently is. He had a very normal response in this thread, and someone told him to use his brain.... apparently in lieu of that person using his.

I responded the way I did as a warning. Many people purchase and use spells like this for their one-time use (until they zone) but doing so is against the rules.

In one instance, nas killed my entire party with Doom 3 times because someone in the party was using Distract.


That sucks for you guys that weren't cheating (though you should have told him to stop using it if you knew it wasn't supposed to work, and maybe you did, I wasn't there) but this is a hilarious punishment.

I didn't know those spells even worked when you first used them. I always assumed they just never worked but didn't fall off your list until later.
