It's still alive. Activity dropped off a little bit because of the level sync restriction being added, a lot of people used the shell to start BST parties before those changes.
Everyone who has a shell should be a pearlsack and are able to pass out pearls, if you can't find someone shoot me a message and I'll try and get back to you ASAP, although I do go idle often throughout the day as I sometimes play at work.
