Nasomi Community FFXI Server :: Concerning Light/Apollo's vs. Monster Signa

As discussed before, it seems like it's adding a flat % chance to succeed in charming. 15% to be exact (in reality it is less than this as it won't roll the 15% chance if you succeed already).

This means that when your chance to charm is very low, the 15% is more than additional CHR. When your chance to charm is very high, CHR is better.

The following has been adjusted:

BLU AF NPC fixed
BLU TP adjusted
Certain crash scenarios fixed
Flying Wyrm EVA adjusted
Mob WS animation fixed
Charm message fixed
Chat/Iridal Charm added
SMN rebuilt from the ground up
• Avatar stats/traits/resistances
• Avatar melee damage calculations
• BP revamped
• BP Skillchains added
Synth bug fixed
Autoclaim rewrite
Atropos Orb KSNM's have been added

At what point should I switch over from Monster Signa to Light/Apollo? I am now leveling my alt with bst but is only 21 right now. Luckily my main is Rdm/bst and can use both Monster and Light/Apollo as well. Should I be looking into investing into 2 staffs when I get to the point?

Also, looks like Apollo is slight better than Monster when charming harder mobs...however, is Light still better with it only being 10% flat rate?

While hanging out in Bhaflau Thickets, I found myself with some time to kill and remembered I still had my Monster Signa on me from a Wings of Fury run. The consensus around here seems to be that Monster Signa is the superior piece, but I haven't seen it tested against Apollo's Staff. The tests I've seen involve the Chat. Staff, which indicate that it does not have the hidden +15% charm acc. I wonder though... according to ffxiclopedia, Chat. Staff gives charm accuracy, while Iridal Staff is shown to give charm +5. What if the Chat. Staff is coded to give charm + instead of acc.? What about Apollo's Staff? Anyway, still a work in progress with a small sample size, but here are my results so far: Hume 75BST/37THF Target - Wivre, LV.99 Monster Signa: CHR - 69+45=114 Success: 8 Fail: 45 8/53 = 15.09% Apollo's Staff: CHR - 69+39=108 Success: 16 Fail: 38 16/54 = 29.62% So the sample size is still pretty small, but these results are starting to look fishy if 6 CHR is indeed the only variable changed.

After this update, I'm guessing Chat. Staff will now be the superior option for charm accuracy.

Use Apollos or Chat staff as soon as it becomes available, at 51. If you can use it, use Chat over anything else for charming. If you can't afford Apollo or Chat, use Light staff over Signa.
