Hey there! I'm about to start leveling bard and I've been doing quite a bit of farming and crafting saving up for equipment to "ding" into. I'm curious if it would be better to get an Apollo's and Terra Staff or if I can just ride with Iridal. Chatoyant is out of the question based on price, but I figure I can either get the two HQ staves or just the Iridal. I'm curious which is generally seen as better? Any help is appreciated for an up and coming BRD! |

My opinion (only 61 brd but) Iridal would be better, it would help with lullaby and elegy and all of the threnodys (if threnody is a thing for you) Apollos would help more with lullaby and Terras more with elegy, but if you can't get both, iridal is definitely better than carrying a load of NQ staves around. Just my opinion, I'm in no way an expert at brd. |

If you’re only worried about BRD an apollo’s and terra’s is better. |

From my experience leveling BRD, an Iridal Staff will serve you better if you're going to use Threnodies. If you're using decent CHR gear, your songs won't get resisted that often, and it's not exactly the end of the world if they do. And Threnodies are absurdly good if you can coordinate with your group: bolt procs, NIN and BLU spells, enfeebles, DRK absorb spells, and of course elemental nukes. Iridal's good if you want to use the job properly. |

It can easily be the equivalent of the end of the world if your songs get resisted in most intense XP parties. Threnody isn’t really used that much for most parties. That’s not very good advice. In reality, would you be fine with an Iridal? Sure. Of course. Is Apollo and Terra quite a bit better solely focusing on BRD? Yeah, absolutely. As Deft mentioned, it’s also got you a start on chat. |
