Nasomi could significantly reduce the ingame effect of ddos attacks without too much investment, hell I'd even pay for the 200 bucks of hardware and ship it myself if I knew he'd even use it, or had the actual skill and time to implement it. Pretty sure he can get the same info from the github crew about mitigation. They got hit with a 1TB/s ddos not too long ago, and started working on redundancy to counter it in the future. They came up with some good stuff. The most effective seemed to be the flood drop on a redundant lobby, basically a ddos at that point only drops the login functions for anyone logging in, but connections already logged in are handed over to the main server rack, and their experience is basically untouched. Any flooding from connections logged in gets dropped and the ddos ends up ending it's own attack. Idk nasomi's networking here but that tactic has worked wonders for other servers on the IoT, but eh, that's just carrot talking about stupid ideas again. There's enough intelligent minds invested in this thing, you can come up with solutions, maybe one of you has the golden ticket to ending the ddos.

The web server is behind cloudflare and the game servers are all behind vps's protected by magic transit. The issue is the attacker is finding the true ip of the server somehow, allowing them to attack it directly. This is not something additional hardware can mitigate or manage, as by the time the attack traffic is at the front door, it's to late. Which means something, somewhere is not being protected. It's just a matter of finding out what that is. And I will find it eventually.
