Just like in any economy, price fixing is hard.

If the OP is really serious about keeping prices high, the best response would've been to agree to collude; there was direct communication! (Something that's really hard in RL, which means interested parties need to "signal" to each other somehow)

Otherwise, you'll end up with a Saudi-Russian price war for Light Sweet Crude. (Gas is $1.75 where I live...)

You need to do two things to successfully collude:
1 - signal/communicate the "right price"
2 - agree to a punishment scheme for non-compliant sellers in the marketplace

If you can go the route of direct communication rather than the more difficult signalling route, the setup would be much faster.

I'm going through something similar in the retail game. Once I started to signal to producers, the price has been rock solid stable.

IMHO, the 5k/unit of darksteel ore is not worth it. I'm still adjusting to prices on Nasomi so I don't know a good product. I just found out that a whole category of items just aren't present here so I have a lot more research ahead.
