Seems like daily tasks taking its toll on nasomi. Wonder if getting a GM to police the people and let nasomi just police the GM would free up alot of his time for devolpment. Anyone agree? Also we used to get free PR when Ninja was playing. Would having someone for PR help server grow and lite a fire under his butt? How do we as a population help nasomi free his time up to fix bugs and add content?

Nas has made it abundantly clear that if you want to help him, the best and only way to do so is to answer questions in NasChat or in the forums so he doesn’t have to.

Just have to be careful to understand you are a player just trying to lend a hand. I'd suggest hanging in naschat for a bit to get a feel for what might be fixable without nasomi's help. Not sure if the wiki is still down or not as of writing, but the troubleshooting page there was actually a super good resource for helping people. Fyi there is also no way to toggle mentor on nasomi, or its an all or nothing deal.

I guess to end... a general reminder that mentors have no power. Do not share any acct info or think they have a back door to nasomi. If you think you would enjoy helping others hotfix the best game ever with the best level cap, given no access to anything server side, do it up.

Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

The real holdup is database access, which won't happen. That'd be needed to fix a quest/mission, restore a rare ex item, change mule/main slots, and fix some forms of stuck chars. That's probably 80% of people's issues right there.

For people stuck in line I'd definitely recommend using the in-game name of the char that needs help as your irc handle, as well as staying in chat and online in game as much as you can.

Best way to help would be for people to stop cheating.

I hope that Nas at least trusts some people with read-only access. That would allow him to turnkey a series of fixes lined up and proposed by a game janitor.

Nah, I just think people should stop expecting new content.

Once you do that, what we have is pretty remarkable.

Even something like a handful of players being able to fly invisible characters around that could do nothing more than record rule breaking would give those players a knowledge advantage. This is probably not nearly as big an issue as it used to be when most of the server's mechanics were still being figured out, but it probably still has the potential to cause issues.

And an outside hired one could always end up rmting their services, amongst other things. Not sure the fall out and bad publicity are worth it.

You would probably also need someone from each major EGLS (or some mythical person that everybody trusts) to limit accusations of bias.
