Post subject:  Haven't played in a long time... How it BST now?
Last I played it was broken as shit. You could charm 99 mobs in ToAU areas, jugs were OP as fk with their broken reward aggro and damage, the works.

I know it has been completely re-done since then, but what did it end up being like?

Good? Bad? Useless?

It's been completely re-balanced. And it works, no insanely OP jugs, merits, charms, etc. However, it's also diminished the job's usefulness to era retail, so instead of being the best job in the game solo king everything, it's ok if you want to play by yourself. And I do take my bst out sometimes when I need to take a mob out. But not because it's the only job that can do it necessarily, but because it's my highest job.

Pretty bad honestly. You could find a use for it, I'm sure. Like my use for it is taking up 30 inventory spots on my bst gear in my moghouse.

I remember when you were just a low level warrior and I gave you free stuff in Qufim. Good times.

For all the custom changes Nasomi does, shame BST fell into a pit of uselessness

I played Bst on retail as well as here on Nasomi for a long time. It now feels accurate to the appropriate retail era. Edit: it's actually easier to play and lvl here on Nasomi than in retail due to Nas-specific features like mobs disappearing upon using Leave instead of pathing back and agroing you after using the JA.

What that means is the job has extremely limited use end-game and in almost all situations other jobs are better to bring to events. However Bst can still be used for some fun stuff with groups of other pet classes (Bst/Smn). Also certain things are cool like being able to solo farm for subligars in the Aquaducts and things like that.

When not doing events on Blm or Smn, I spend most of my play-time on Bst. It's a great farming class, especially if you are a crafter. I've found a veritable ton of viable solo/lowman farming spots for great gil and solo/lowman xp.

Also one of the main appeals with Bst for me was flexibility if you have limited play time or often get pulled away from the game. You can log out in a great farm/xp spot, log in for just an hour of play and get right to it instead of having to spend time gather a party or other people. Bst was amazing for me in lvling up craft skills including Bonecraft to 99 (still need that last point...)

Yeah I love the idea of BST still, I just miss the days of when it was more useful on Nasomi. I know it deserved a nerf, but not a butchering from the sounds of it. Multiple people messaged me on Discord and private messages because they thought I returned, and based on things I was shown about BST, it got me concerned on the job for sure.

Didn't claiming get changed on Nasomi as well?

I remember if you were fighting something and put your pet on a different mob, you lost claim or something now? Was this ever fixed?

All the bandwagon BST people are gone for sure since it's muuuuch more retail-accurate. I really wish he'd put in snarl and fix pet regen when using stay, but I don't expect it to happen. Solo farming is definitely my main use at 75 now. I want to do some tarasque farming at some point, so if anyone wants to team up for that let me know. The lvls in IC are a bit higher than retail so doing it solo is dicier than I remember.

One of my favourite things is using /BST for lvling other jobs solo. Got a bunch of lvls on RDM, THF, and NIN that way. All in all, if you liked BST on retail, you'll still like it here. But yeah, def wanna use another job for anything endgame-related.

The real problem with BST is dual boxing. There's just no real reason to have it when dual boxing is an option, since an RDM and THF can kill basically everything a BST can, and will get you TH2-4 on it.
