I was fighting a corse at one point and a player came by and slept me before claiming the monster and killing it themselves. I'm not upset about this in the slightest as I've always found Charm to be an interesting and funny interaction, but it did bring to light the question. "What if they used Thunder IV instead of sleep?", I don't think that I would have necessarily minded that outside of "Wow, what a dick move.", but I'm curious is that interaction would have been punishable. I personally don't think that it would have been, but the question stands as follows:

Is it considered MPK to attack/kill a charmed player outside of your party if you intend to fight the monster that has charmed them?

The reason I ask is simply because of the following facts:
1. MPK is against the rules.
2. Charm is a status ailment that specifically allows for you to be targeted by such actions.
3. A charmed player is a direct obstacle/threat when attempting to kill the monster that has them charmed.


I'm curious if there is a set rule for this, and if there isn't I'm making this post to open up that discussion so that the community as a whole can have more clarity in this regard.

Under the current rules, it's not MPK. Granted it is a huge dickmove and will probably result in a form thread in which the offender gets blasted.

I believe the spirit of the rules can be defined as "Don't be a Dick"

Venturing into that territory is at least not advised.

It was fair game in retail.

So was using terrain to "pin" monsters, that's not really the best indicator of what is legal and what isn't.

Source: I used to "pin" Krabkatoa VNM solo and had multiple people say they were going to call GMs on me.

Depends on GM I guess, seen people jailed for "kiting" KV around 2 cactii that form a wall for mob pathing. /shrug

On topic I think it's fair but still a dick move, can be good fun between friends.

It's not clear, but common sense would say it isn't. Just think about the example mentioned above, Vrtra would never be killed anymore on this server if this were fair game, and I don't think Nas would be okay with that.

I’d have a new past time and I’m pretty confident I’d have a group that’s interested.

Alas, I’m pretty sure this is bordering on griefing, and is punishable by one of those vague ass disruptive gameplay rules.
