I'm old, eyes don't work so well these days...

But I think Nas's announcement says "Tons of fixes, also the AH charges fees now"

No hate, just curious on why now, 3 or 4 years later?

What would be the advantage of waiting 3-4 years?

Same reason auctions didn't expire after a few days, or you can list more than 7 items at a time - the player base wasn't robust enough to support the Gil sinks Square designed for retail.

I've been off and on for the last several months, so I might be out of sync. But I was surprised and wanted to bring it up respectfully.

Takes time to code things. Anti-inflation measures to cycle gil out of the economy at a steady rate without breaking it.

I saw this being discussed last night on the Mog House shell...

1% is hardly anything to get worked up over. Yes the people who have been playing since the server started have an advantage over people just starting, but what can you do...

Considering how much gil is generated from NPC sales, it seems like a decent way to balance the scale. This will likely put an end to my "Buy scale armor for 100g from AH and vendor for 201 gil" scheme though. :(

Out of curiosity, how is it calculated? 1% of list price? And how was it calculated on retail?

According to wiki it's 1% +1 gil for single items and .5% +4 gil for stacks. No idea if this was different in the past.

I believe era retail was 5%

Edit: Wrong about this. Also what the hell is the strikethrough text command?

Jeuno / Nashmau / Tavnazia Auction Houses
  • Single item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +50 gil.
  • Stacked item fee = 0.5% of the seller's asking price +100 gil.
Al Zahbi Auction House
  • Single item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +100 gil.
  • Stacked item fee = 0.5% of the seller's asking price +400 gil.
Aht Urhgan Whitegate Auction House
  • Single item fee = 2% of the seller's asking price +100 gil.
  • Stacked item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +400 gil.
Other Auction Houses
  • Single item fee = 1% of the seller's asking price +1 gil.
  • Stacked item fee = 0.5% of the seller's asking price +4 gil.

From the wiki in November 2006

The auction houses were all separate back then.
