https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

quick and dirty but it works.

it grabs the current pop off the website every 15 minutes, appends a .csv, which is in the dropbox folder, and i import that into gdocs.

gdocs should update it every hour or so, apparently.

google doesnt recognize the day/time format, so it doesn't do the horizontal axis like i'd like, but it is OK for now.

the script to grab the pop also runs on my laptop which i don't always have sitting somewhere with net, which wouldn't be an issue if google docs could understand the x axis and extrapolate, but it can't. i'll fix it later.

What's the point of this when http://nasomi.com/status/ grabs the live population? Seems a tad redundant.

You can see trends and plan for the dynamic sync accordingly. You can also use it to see the changes as a result of any patch (wanted or unwanted) and their actual effect on population.

The pop tracker now tracks polulation in certain popular zones and HNM zones individually. This means you can use the pop tracker to estimate the ToDs of those HNMs. I wiped the first initial set of data for them if anyone saw it already last night.

Hey,

Is that even ok to do? So anyone can get tods without canping? This is horrible im counting the ways i can use this wrongly.

I think this counts as a 3rd party program and should be dealt with right away.

I really don't think this is a good idea as it truly is unfair to people who actively camp HNM. While you've gone and make it public I would argue that this is an unwarranted third party tool and should not be available. Please consider the ramifications this will have on the server's endgame population.

It's come to my attention after making this that such 'tools' (really just recording of data given to us by Nas) have already been in use for some time by others. This is simply a public one that will put groups that did not use such a 'tool' on an equal playing field with groups that do.

It's really no different than sitting on the Status page and refreshing it every 30 minutes to an hour and watching for people in specific zones. As I write this, without even being logged into the game, I can see that either Tiamat is being camped/killed or there is an AA run going on because there are a truckload of people in Attohwa Chasm. As long as the Status page is a thing, then there's no point in trying to hide your ToDs because they can be easily found out by anyone with the tiniest bit of effort.
