Hi all, after many ups and downs, I definitely quitted the original FFXI when the lev cap of 75 was raised and the lev sync also introduced - in my memory I these two features were added more ore less conteporarily (Wings of the Goddess?), but perhaps I am wrong. I remembering noticing something odd when 60+ were leveling near Jeuno on beetles - I found that very odd. I see that here the lev cap is 75, and that it's fine, but I also see that level sync is active. Ok, I can adapt since there are still low levs parties in Valkurm Dunes, but I understand lev camps have nonetheless shifted from what I remembered. In Valkurm I remember killing damsel flies and crabs, also for subjob items - now I see lizzie camps up until level 15. How many of the old progression has changed because of level sync? For example, after Valkurm I remember exping in Qufim, outside Jeuno, and then the issue of the costly Kazham pass for colibri parties... |

In retail, SE raised the levels of a bunch of mobs to accomidate the level 99 cap. You won't find that here. Level sync is here, but it's restricted. You can't ding 75 in the dunes, there's a maximum level range of 40, but it scales with the amount of people online to as few as a 10 level range with 500+. It's been a while since I was in the dunes, but I definitely remember crabs from 12-15, flies higher levels. Maybe you're thinking in the north east portion of the dunes, where there are lizards, but they're higher level? Kazham airship pass is free. Just a bit of time to farm 3 chest keys. I did it on 28whm/blm with no help. Colibri parties are 50+, and aren't a thing here. |

Thank you, I didn't know lev sync restriction, that is good. Still missing damesel fly and crabs parties, but perhaps it was just a couple of unlucky days. Yes, sorry Kazham was for the mandragoras->sahagins, which I guess is still a thing 25-30ish |

Nas changed mobs around in the Dunes awhile back when level sync was first implemented; aside from the occasional fly party with a PL, flies, crabs, and pugil are no longer done in dunes. Instead, everything is lizards spread out in three different level-range camps around the area leading to the secret beach and Gustav Tunnel. |

I see, so subjob items are done somehow separately... I was hoping to do level+items at once as in the legacy servers, but I guess it’s fine nonetheless. |

I have seen a few parties fighting fish, crabs and flies on the secret beach, to eke out their levels to about 22-23'ish (?), instead of going to Qufim right at 18/19. But it's not super common from what I've heard. |

Yea, I've done crabs/pugs/flies on the secret beach after finishing up at the level 16-18 lizard camp, it's not a bad option if you want to continue with a good group and don't have a re-sync. Try asking your party members for help with subjob items after your party ends. Most will probably have other jobs they can change to in Selbina and knock it out for you really quickly. |

Doing flies with an OK party if the lizard camp you want is taken is just fine, too. Crabs can be slow though. |

So I guess you have to seek/form specific sub-job parties? It seemed easy in the original since exp camps were sj items camp. Nevermind, I will manage. |
