This is 100% accurate for ALL gear. If you're wearing synced gear you may as well be naked. I've been telling people about it forever now. Tanks, you lose all bonuses to vit/eva, dps you lose all bonuses to atk/acc, mages you lose all bonuses to int/mnd/mp. AFIAK def doesn't scale terribly, but that's it. It's how it was in retail, too. And it's why i don't want to sync any further than I have to.

*There are excpetions, but they're few and far between. Hauby when synced 1 level goes from +10atk to +1atk.

They are significantly stronger than using a weapon above your current sync level. You should spread the word so that people are aware. I'm not sure if it's a bug, but I did pm nas telling him that there may be something wrong, so he might double check. No, there haven't been any changes to this recently, I just felt like it was important to let all the new players know that they should keep some lower level gear for syncing.

This is very very true. And fair if you ask me. In this era, gear too high leveled for the cap was stripped off of you entirely upon cap. It is very wise to tell your party members to grab a level appropriate weapon when level syncing. Melees will be very underwhelming without one.

One case I know of where sync is wonky is the WHM Regen body. It gives the bonus to Regen spells even at lv 40.

Yes, this is very important information that I hope people spread. Also note that the formula is meant to become lenient the higher level you are, so with levels it becomes less noticeable. This is often a reason that a party may struggle to get good EXP/hr at lower levels.

I remember that checkparam said Scorpion Harness +1 gave more accuracy when sync'd to ~50 than Jujitsu Gi, so I think it depends more on how far you sync, and if there's anything worth wearing at all below the sync'd level.

For armor yes, but for weapons you do significantly less even at 1 level below.
