What's worth doing in FFXI if you have limited time? (A bit of an oxymoron...)

Hi all,

I played a long time ago when Chains came out and quit around WoTG and played a ton. I really enjoyed the early days but the reality is as I'm older, I don't have as much time to play but I want to come back and play the things I did not get to do back then (I was still a casual player then, I just sunk a lot of time into it)

For example, I finished:

1. Most of one nations story (Sandy) but it was forever ago
2. Zilart missions
3. ... did not finish CoP which I hear is good & fun
4. I did a couple HNMs but barely any
5. Did some Dynamis runs

... and a bunch more.

If someone was going to play say, 10-12 hours a week for some period of time... what would you recommend they do in my shoes? I'll be happy reliving some of the old experiences for sure (or at least I hope so) but what are some things that are musts? :)

Well I play about 10-12 hrs a week and so far ive just enjoyed leveling and playing jobs I never tried before. But that might just be me personally.

Do whatever you want to.

Of course, those are reasonable answers but I'm mostly looking for a list of the "best content" I should check out before inevitably I need to say goodbye again. :)

Beastmaster? That's what I did when I played super casually.

You'll get different answers from different people. Do you enjoy storyline? CoP+Rank Missions are great for that. Do you want to min/max your character? HNMs/Dynamis/Sky/Sea will be where you want to spend your time. At first I'd work on attaining level 75 then figure out how you want to play the game.

It's your time, man. Login and do whatever pops in your head.

I second the bst suggestion. Used to work a lot and had stalled due to never getting a party so i picked up bst and it was easy to pick up and play a little bit here and there when u could

I do BST but yesterday I was bored so I decided to go unlock all the jobs I could and really pay attention to the story lines. It was kind of cool. Got all done except Aht Urgan jobs and SAM. Would have SAM done but you have to wait 3 hours and it was already 10pm and I have work this morning :)

If you can manage to unlock it Summoner is also a fantastic solo artist...the unlock can be brutal though.
