I thought I would hate "double boxing"(?) but it's super fun. Now, the question is, how to make the most of it. I plan on leveling my mithra as a THF/NIN to 75 The question is, what would make the best partner (as a Tarutaru)? RDM and WHM with /WAR are working so far (lvl 20-22). But I wonder what are the pros and cons for each class long term. So, options are: WHM/WAR: inferior tanking, superior heals, travel via teleport RDM/WAR: balanced, plus sleep for emergency CC PLD/WAR: superior tanking, smaller heals BLU/WAR: would this work? I don't know much about BLU Would any other class combos work? Which would you chose, and why? EDIT: Oh, btw, I'm Mocha & Sveni in game^^ |

You could try a RDM/NIN, extra DMG and still get solid support, since that combo alone is a great soloer plus the extra DMG from THF would be good |

You're gonna want rdm or whm as a sub at least for sneak and invis. |

As a player that started before the server broke 500 peak/daily, Rdm/Nin is absolutely a viable tank/dd for leveling due to the Hate Generation that Blind/Sleep/Sleep2/Dispel have. But it only really works if you work your butt off to min/max your gear and actively macro in/out of gear to generate Enmity. As for Job Combos, generally any job that uses a 1hand weapon, aside from Pld, benefits greatly from /nin's dualwield at lv20 onward. Survivability leaps up after you gain access to Utsu Ichi @24/12. P.S. If you want some personal input, I DD Rdm'd from 1-70 only conforming to the basic sheeple meta after 70+ for merit parties. Feel free to /tell me in-game about gear if you want. ^^b |

So far, I’ve only duoed Lizzards in dunes near Konschtat (18-21), and Forest Tigers in Jugner Forest next to Carpenter’s Landing (24-26). EP and DC are super easy, EM aren’t bad either, they just require a little more effort / paying attention. Most exp so far is 90 from exp chain 1, which, considering it’s two characters, is technically 180 exp ^^ Also, my primary goal isn’t just exp, also farming items for gil and just seeing what I am able to do. I’m still considering more options before I settle on jobs to take to 75. I’ve heard Summoner is good at soloing, so how about: THF/NIN Mithra + SMN/WHM Taru Can THF skillchain well with avatars? Do any avatars have provoke-like moves for setting up SA? Or would that even matter once I get TA? NIN/WAR Mithra + SMN/WHM or BLM/WHM Taru This seems like one of the easiest options, no more setting up SA, just a straight up tank and DD. |

A Thf with capped Parry/Evasion, which if you're duoing EM-Ts shouldn't be hard to keep capped, should make chaining EM-Ts really easy. Having the Avatar pull hate > SA WS hate back. But sadly Avatar SkillChaining are out of Era entirely. The only problem I can see with Smn, is that Summoning in of itself is absurd amounts of Enmity Generation. Watching a Smn just suddenly rip hate off a tank because they summoned something after casting Dia is just silly. As for Nin, you can get away with other subs, don't NEED Provoke to hold hate, I've tanked regularly in full parties as Nin/Drg multiple times, even easier with a 1st Provoke and a Thief, but not entirely needed. (Hell, even easier now with the boosted EleWheel damage output.) |

Great info, thanks Warren! I didn’t know Ninja elemental wheel got boosted, that makes me want to try THF/NIN Mithra and NIN/RDM Taru perhaps... so many possibilities  I’ve been keeping my weapon combat skills capped (and even skilling up new ones) just from fighting EP-EM, and my evasion and parry are pretty high too, close to cap or capped, I’d check but I’m out of town for a month. |
