Post subject: | How is each job doing currently? |
Hey Just looking to gather some opinions about how each job is faring currently on Nasomi, regarding for example: - Demand for individual jobs for EXP parties? - How expensive is it to fund? - Expected role of the job (i.e. "RDMs are expected to main heal", etc) - Demand for certain content other than EXP - Too many/too few people playing X job? - ...anything else at all! I've been leveling WHM, currently 34, and finding it quite surprising how many other WHMs there are to compete with for party spots. I seem to remember (perhaps wrongly) that healers were hard to come by in retail back in the day. SMNs were often drafted in as main healers as there were hardly any WHMs around. This doesn't seem to be the case on Nasomi as it appears quite a popular job. I've noticed NIN is very in demand for tanking, as it was back in classic retail. There don't seem to be many tanks around, but I'm wondering whether WARs and SAMs are used as tanks more often here than they were on retail? Just looking to open up conversation and hear what people have to say. Thanks |

The reason why there tons of whm lfp available is because there plentiful of out healers to power level. So instead of using a dedicated healer of taking up a slot, they will be replaced by a DD for faster killing. |

I've had limited experience on Nasomi so far (WAR 30, THF 21, WHM 19, MNK 18, PLD 17) so I can't give much help on this. A lot of the PLs I've encountered have been dualboxing and as such still want a main healer in the group just in case. In Valkrum I've heard people say that there "are no real tanks" until higher level - I've found this to largely be because most people are not geared to tank at this level range. I've done okay as a WAR with a G.Axe and had no trouble at all as a PLD with good (not great) gear. I've tanked Pugs from 22+ in Quifim on War/Mnk and while a Ninja or PLD is preferred, War does just fine. When people look for a tank or off tank the preference seems to be Ninja > War/Nin > PLD/WAR > War/Mnk. I've not yet seen a party with anything else (though I have seen MNK/WAR off tank in the dunes to help the Ninja set up shadows). At these levels there seems to be a preference for physical DD - parties rarely seem to look for a BLM. I do not understand this in Valkrum as BLM's help melt lizzies from 13+ (Fusion is a very easy Skillchain to create at low levels and one of my personal favorites). People tell THF to only use a sword until ~ 30, I've partied with both Sword and Dagger THFs and can't really tell the difference. A lot of WAR/- are using sword and shield in Valkrum. I've had more trouble finding replacements as a Tank - then again I usually need a replacement during non-peak hours. |

My experience isn't like this at all. I've had many good tanks. Paladins, warriors, and a ninja if I recall. This is in the dunes anyways. Also, every single party I got in the dunes had a black mage in it. Another thing, which frankly surprised me, is no one minded that I was THF using dagger. I did have the top damage dagger for my level, and stacked STR food and rings though. I was doing just as much dmg as every one else, and more once I got sneak attack. I was pulling aggro quite a bit. Also, you can get some really cool skill chains for magic burst with dagger. In general I think people are just nicer on this server and less concerned with min/maxing, and more concerned with avoiding mean people. |
