Post subject:  Kuftal Diggers Aggro?

Is there a reason Kuftal Diggers near the Devil Manta area aggro?? I don't remember this being the case on retail, they're listed on both ffxiclopedia and BGwiki as non-aggro as well, and it makes it nearly impossible to farm in the area solo like people used to on old retail. I also don't remember there being Diplopods spawning in the area downstairs either, but at least they can be avoided. If you aggro one worm near the fishing hole, you will aggro all 10 of them. Just nearing 75 Thf and finding this out is pretty disheartening as it was one of the sole things I was looking forward to doing once 70+ which has been a royal pain to get to. Was this done intentionally, and if so why??

They have been like that for years on this server. If they truly were not agro in 2004-2006 era retail, then it's just an oversight that has gone unnoticed by Nasomi. Proving it is a completely different thing. I have farmed down there a ton and simply had no idea which they were supposed to be. Once youre 75 though you can simply sneak past them and fish safely, at least from my older experiences back when they moved. They shouldnt agro you if youre towards the back with ninja sub.

I remember the diplopods, but they were rare spawns. But the worms.. Don't recall myself.

Hell the fish are pulled up and then scent/sight aggro which is a bitch -_-

Sitting in the pond while fishing will allow you to not get aggro from the worms or scorpions.

Something to bear in mind, Nasomi isn't 100% 2005/06 retail accurate. Use the wiki as a place for information but do not take it as the gospel.

It is, but the drop rate seems remarkably lower than what I remember on retail. Worst record on retail was 0/18 with 0 TH. Here my worst has been 1/32 with TH3 lol. Not sure farming there is worth the time investment honestly. Maybe if Arachne and Yowie popped more frequently like they did on retail, and amemet wasn't so heavily camped. Kind of backwards that someone can just hold Charybdis for as long as they want and end up with ten times the amount of angel skins for a fraction of the time investment in Kuftal where you could maybe end up with one or none over a period of multiple days lol. Maybe that's just me though.

I was in IRC the day Nasomi said he made a mistake and "fat fingered" the drop rate on angel skin and lowered it from 30 to 7% on Devil Mantas. It has not been worth trying to farm those ever since he corrected his mistake.


It used to be a decent spot on retail when you could get the other NMs to pop fairly regularly between manta spawns, but you can't really kill Phantom Worm here solo due to bolts having shitty proc rates/bad damage, and the worms aggroing down there when they aren't supposed to just makes it even worse. But either way idk, did Charybdis even drop Angel Skins with steal on retail? It isn't listed anywhere on the wikis, but that still just seems so backwards.

The drop rate on Angel Skins is horrible, even with th4 it's no where close to retail. Would be nice to see this fixed instead of people just stealing from charybdis and leaving the mob, which wasn't even a thing in retail.

100% agreed with this. I said the same thing after spending nearly three days straight down in Kuftal with basically no competition. As someone who spent a ton of time there on retail, the drop rate seems massively different from from what I could tell. To be honest I wasn't 100% sure if you were able to steal angel skins off of Charybdis on retail or not, but I imagine it would have been mentioned somewhere if it were possible. If it wasn't possible though, then they should either be drastically lowered in being successfully stolen, or removed entirely. Slightly increase the drop rate on Devil Manta and it would actually open up a decent farm spot for multiple people instead of limiting the main method of obtaining the item to a dual boxer with a monopoly on the item. If people put in the time to farm something it should be rewarded not punished, intentional or not. I think most people would admit the current best method of obtaining angel skins is pretty lame.

Dang, I hate how people go off and exploit something like that without telling anybody, including nas.

I wouldn't expect those Charybdis Angel Skins to be around for very long.
