Can we discuss the increased loss rate of failed synths? I know that the loss rate of items was increased slightly in the past few months, but does the current rate make sense? I feel like each time I see the break animation, I expect to see 90% of my mats blown to pieces. It definitely hurts as a newer crafter and kind of put me off crafting since I'd either break even or lose money based on one failed synth of an entire batch. Was retail similar to this? Can we reduce it by like... 2%??

Hello,

This topic is likely to get some, shall I dare call it, dicey responses as was the case with past posts. I hope that it will stay civil however.

Seconded. The changes are way too unforgiving. And i'm excited to see the veteran nasomi crafters that leveled three years ago tell me otherwise.

Wouldn't be so bad if I were leveling an inexpensive craft like cooking I guess...?

Yes, the rate of critical failures was increased, but the price of items has naturally increased to compensate, for a while there NQs weren't making a profit at all.

Remember, in retail, NQ synths (before losses from failures) were almost never making you profit, but they still do here as players are willing to pay that much, and not enough people are crafting to push the prices so low that those making NQs can't compete.

Once you're HQing, even at Tier 1, you HQ often enough that you make up for all the failures.

As the server continues to grow, you should expect to make less and less profit from crafting, unless you're at an extremely high skill level, and even then, you'll feel pressure from other crafters.

edit: if anything, there is a problem with HQ rates. It's lower than it should be (consistently closer to 5% than 10% at Tier 1, for example)

It's way to high, and having the signboard seems to do nothing to help the crit breaks, in retail the sign atleast lessened mat loss, I've noticed no difference here.

It's definitely made break synthing less sexy.

I find it doubtful that I would have ever liked, found success with, or pursued crafting had I needed to get skilled up in the current condition. It is rough. The rates on t1s are just abysmal. The ability to hit 107 has been completely removed so rip t1s on all the key 96 synths. Crafting is not worth doing right now for the most part.

Not to mention you have dead-nikkei-russel-nasdaq-dowjones-loncie-consortium-wing ruining everything for everyone because that's just his established role on this server having not actually logged on to fight a mob in over a year.

I've gotten 0.6 of a level in 48 clothcraft synths in the 80's with a synth that was 5 levels from cap. I did the same thing the next day and got about a level. I can't even fathom what it would be like in the 90s with absurd costs per individual synth. It seems way out of whack.
