Quick question, are you able to add /fps 1 into the default.txt? It doesn't seem to actually change the setting for me. I still have to manually type it in everytime the game laods.

Thanks.

This is how I got it to work for me.

Under Set Common Settings..

/ambient 255 255 255 255
/wait 15
/fps 1
/drawdistance setworld 3
/fps show

That last line is to hide the fps display. You could just remove it.

This is a really great post, thanks for making it and to all the extra advice from others.

One thing I've noticed just now is that my Background Aspect Ratio (Misc. 2) was set to the default 4:3. I've just changed it to 16:9 to match my monitor and wow.... my hume suddely looks stick thin. I thought I must have got the ratio wrong but nope. Apparently I've been playing with chunky characters since... 2005?

Mind blown.

Edit: Trying to get used to it but my character does look ridiculously thin... maybe I am actually doing something wrong, idk.

Edit: Although going back to 4:3 now looks ridiculous. If anything 16:10 looks best but that's not my monitor ratio.

Any way to set up XI View to do the icons at the top but not all the other changes?

I did this with XI View and added all the HD monsters/weapons/spells/backgrounds etc....but it doesnt seem to have made any difference. In fact, all monster/party member abilities dont appear on screen.

Anyone else get this issue and is there a way to fix it?

Just adding a bit of info. I have had this happen when viewing CS's sometimes they won't process fully through at 60fps. So be prepared to switch back to /fps 2. I have seen people no get full credit for their CS with /fps 1 active. Out of precaution I switch back to /fps 2 so I don't get glitched. I don't know if anyone else has seen this but I just wanted to throw this out there as something I have seen and heard from others so I wanted to let others know.

When my computer lags on frames/music/sounds, I do a quick alt tab out then back it. Fixes right up.

Also for those who don't know it, the below commands can be typed into the chat in game.
/drawdistance setworld 99 -- Enables larger field of view
/drawdistance setmob 99 -- Enables further mob view

Does /drawdistance setmob 99 actually do anything? I have typed it in, but nothing renders past 30 yalms regardless unless I keep it targeted and run out of range, which the game just already does normally right? and then it immediately disappears if I change target. I have done both setworld 99 and setmob 99.

setmob doesn't increase the range you see monsters. It increases the clarity of the ones you can see. Try setmob .1 vs setmob 10 in an area like Ronfaure.

If you need a performance boost without sacrificing much you can always change your Shadows settings from "High" to "Normal".

I always used to get around 20-30 FPS in places like Bastok Mines for no apparent reason but changing this more or less brought it back up to 60 FPS, and the game pretty much looks the exact same.
