Hi there,

I used to play FFXI a long time ago. I saw that this community server had it free-to-play though, so me and my girlfriend are going to try and get into it. I tried looking up a beginner's guide for the game, only to learn that the tutorial quests, trusts, objective quests, and survival guides do not work on the game. So I am not sure what DOES work, or what I should focus on being a level 1.

Do the missions work? Is there a level requirement to start the main storyline missions?

Me and my girlfriend are really interested in the story aspect of the game. Any recommendations on what some of our early goals should be. A point in the right direction would be helpful, thank you!

P.S. I do know about the Conquest system, I've already gained my signet.

First step is to get 18 then get your subjob leveled. Then once you hit 30, just unlock any job you want. Then boom. You're set. But since this is the 75 cap, I'm pretty sure all the missions still have the level cap as well, so I wouldn't get rid of good gear, (ex. Level 30 Seer's set for mages)

Thanks or the reply! So to get to 18 you'd just recommend doing the early missions and killing stuff and exploring?

1-10 is fairly quick, keep killing anything decent/weak. 11-13 will be a bit slower, again keep killing weak mobs and you'll get there in a day or 2.

Once 13 (or late 12) you can start seeking groups in the Dunes. Valkurm Dunes. Check out ffxi atlas site to get an idea how to get there.

For starting job, war or mnk is good.

Also, while in cities make a /shout for Mig House LS. Its the server wide LS and will help seeking g roups easier

Start with Jester, then you can change jobs to Sage at level 20 in Dharma Temple without needing a Zen book.

Missions 1 to 3 should be fairly easy once you hit level 10-12. It's basically farming stuff. After that, Shadow Dragon + Eye is 25 cap. And I think that's Part 2 of every nation.

Yeah, but that only works if you've found the first five jinn. It changed after the Ethereum fork.
