Post subject:  Goodbye for Ever?
This may be my goodbye forever post ; ;

I am no longer able to access the server and get past the DLdata screen.
For the last 8 months I have been force quitting Ashita in order for it to not update. (I had read this method on the old forums and was the only thing that allowed me to log in without runtime errors)

It seems there must have been some new update on SE's part and this trick no longer works, though I can still select my char. and get to the DLdata screen.

Maybe someone knows the answer to this, or maybe they change it again, or maybe it was a message from Jesus/buddha/satan/the universe/Nas that I have to focus on other shit :X

That really sucks. Was always fun playing with you.

Perhaps if you reinstall everything you'll be able to fix this issue?

Have you tried making a new account and seeing if it will let you log into that?

Hell, you don't even have to make an account. You can log into jailed characters with username "1" password "1". Try seeing if you can log into those?

Might be stating the obvious here, but are you using the latest version of Ashita available on Nasomi site? I know a couple weeks ago I was having the same issue with being stuck in the downloading data black screen; it started happening after Nas fixed the ISP trouble. I was using an older version of ashita at the time, so I went and downloaded the latest Ashita from Nasomi site and it started working again.

I just finished wrestling with this issue myself for the past couple of hours. Stuck on "Downloading Data...." over, and over and over and over again. I tried getting on with my laptop, and it went fine. So I obviously concluded the problem was on my desktop.

I figure if it's stuck on "downloading data", it's obviously stuck writing something to the HDD. Either, some strange permission error, or just a glitched write to the HDD, as this server is filled with a dump truck of glitches and problems.

In any case, I went into my USER folder in the FF XI install. C:\Program Files (x86)\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\USER I deleted everything in this folder to the recycle bin, and logged in. All my configs were gone of course, as I just deleted them to the recycle bin. So, I logged back out, went to the recycle bin, and restored everything to the folder. Tried logging back in, and voila, logged in no problem and everything was as it should be.

If you want to play it safer, in fear you may accidentally empty your recycle bin or something. Just copy everything in the folder, to another folder for safe keeping, before doing this.

In any case, I hope this may work for you. It's most definitely a writing error of some sort. Best of luck.

Thank you all for the responses.

I have not resolved this and have officially retired from Nasomi.


Due to the many problems on the Nasmoni server, it wasn't worth any more hours of my time trying to solve it with little help.

I enjoyed my time on Nasomi for the past 9 months and getting to endgame and reliving the nostalgia once more. But sadly, that was all it was. Just nostalgia and some great people I met, almost all who have retired for various reasons.

I hope the server improves like the favoritism among the original players (They always know about changes ahead of everyone, get the easier way on obtaining endgame items), stricter rules on exploiting (Nas - we know who exploits and you still let them back after banning/suspending them), major bug fixes and an cleaner way to run the game (not letting players get locked out after 9 months invested).

ENDGAME - glad to see things finally changing (how many months of OWNM zone crashes did we have to deal with before it was solved?), And now you are fixing HNM/sky?? YES must have gotten all they needed.


The server growth is healthy, but it wont sustain with 1 person trying to fight an uphill battle with a growing pop. Especially when there is clear favoritism towards certain players.


All that being said, Thank you Nas for the great experience, I hope Nasomi continues to grow and prosper, have fun yall!

Don't let it.

Nasomi is definitely a fun server with a lot of great people, and as close to classic as you can get.
I don't regret my time on Nasomi, it sucks to have had the technical problems I have.
My reply is mostly for when Nas comes across it,
Maybe it'll give him another 'check' as what to fix,
but it's more saying, Nasomi has grown too big for Nas himself.

With almost no active GMs, the server runs wild and you get things like [multiple] Gilpocolypse where 75% of gil is gone, and the exploiters win yet again. Nas knows what is wrong, he is too stubborn to get help, and then his bias towards certain players shows and fair treatment fades.

It's a free server, but we do invest our time, and for too many reasons, it is no longer worth my time.

But shout out to all the good friends i've made Baram, Clyde, Damnito, Elvtin, Vic, Blankvin, Varg, DEMO LS, and the many more.
