Hey guys. So since Nasomi put in his limits on accounts, being a main, an alt, and a mule per person, i was curious if it was cool to fire up the good ol' hotspot and make 3 completely new characters, then continue to use it to log into them.

I heard some individuals have been using such means to maximize their own utility. Would love to hear what the community thinks about this, thanks:')

Not allowed.

It's 1 forum account per person, not per IP.

I think Royalized obviously knows that is against the rules, so I'm hoping he just says whom is doing that already.

So I can have 3 characters on my account and my wife could have 3, on the same IP?

What about players who took over characters they didn’t create? Abraxas/Coolfish being played by (formally) Tatai comes to mind. Famously, the guy who got a huge number of accounts, most of which weren’t his, jailed for account sharing.

While granted, the account system has definitely seemed to resolve a lot of the issues people like the aforementioned player had relied on to succeed. It still seems as though being lax on the nuance of those rules just permits people like that to persist in spite of their overall intent. Ie., guy who got banned for account sharing, now playing on someone else’s characters— or as was implied in the OP, the use of a VPN, or hotspot to log into more than the allowed number of accounts.

I didn't post this personally with an intent to run a tirade on the forums. As it is, i don't understand the restrictions or obligations of the rules, and how they apply to how i can play the game here. It might just be frail interpretation on my part, and i appreciate the response Nab.

I just think there's an advantage to it like extra inventory, and more possibility for advantages and accessibility at in-game events. The curiosity of this makes me question if it's okay when hearing people are potentially using such means.

Players breaking the rules will eventually be caught, their accounts deleted, and their time wasted. Tatai got deleted once, if he's back and following the rules he'll be fine, if he's not, then i'm sure nas will catch him eventually. We're not the police, and nas refuses to bow to mob mentality. if someone is breaking the rules, reporting it is the best recourse.

Regarding people who "took over" accounts: as long as those accounts aren't being shared, then whoever bound it, owns it. If it's being shared, whoever has been sharing it and whoever it is being shared with are at risk of losing that character and all associated characters. The exact problem before this system was that it was not possible to truly say who owned what character, making it more difficult for nas to 'fairly' judge those scenarios.

I think, not to speak for him, what Baldr is saying is: Is the rule simply two characters over level 10 per human being? Or is it you can "own" two characters over level 10 per human being?

We all know that account sharing isn't really enforced as a rule until one of the accounts breaks a rule, and then everyone it was shared with risks losing their other characters too.... but is it explicitly against the rules (i.e. reporting it will result in actual action) if someone "owns" two characters over level 10... but routinely accesses another 2-3 characters over level 10 as well that are bound to someone else's account?

Assume I don't mean concurrently, because I think it's obviously against the rules to control that many characters are one point in time... Also, for once, I'm not attempting to troll Nabutso. It's a genuine curiosity on the enforcement of the rule.
