My advice to anyone starting out is to level thf first (Thf & Rdm if dual boxing) and use it to farm for your preferred job.

100%, it likely will be a long road but very worth it in the end.

This is exactly what I did when I started out and I am glad I did. #keepthenecrogoing

The moral of the story is, as a tank you need to be prepared and the NINs or PLDs should bring echo drops, eye drops, antidotes, potions, elixirs, ethers, juice, food ... ... ... or is that just me?

I will say my expectation when tanking is that I'm using my echo drops, etc. in emergencies and not constantly throughout the XP party.

Career gamers are losers, this will never change. I leveled NIN on both eden and here and people made fun of me / kicked me from groups because i didnt have shadows.

These kids live with their parents into their 40s and game 12 hours a day, wont be going anywhere. Sorry to say if you want to waste your time on this server or a similar one you need to farm !

But in a good way :)

Easiest answer not given yet: if you're a 25+ WHM and that's what you want to be, farm up yagudo necklaces and quest the Utsusemi scroll to sell. Problem solved.

If you get into your late 30s and decide to do another job, quest and sell the teleport scrolls. Same with warp, drain, and aspir to a lesser extent. Fish, craft, gather, hunt NM.

Farm silk threads, bat wings, bird eggs, wild onions, lizard tails to NPC, yagudo necklaces to sell. Game the AH for things that are much cheaper as a stack than single item (having 100 AH spots makes this possible), and there are even things on the AH that sell cheaper than NPC price but you have to put in the time to find and exchange.

Yes it sucks that you have to buy ridiculously expensive spells that, unlike melee jobs, you can't sell back when you're done, like you can with gear (plus you need to stay on top of gear, to boot).

Farming isn't fun, but there's many options available.
