So how does the auction house work? I put up stuff almost a week ago to sell and they still haven’t sold. But there are people who are selling the same item and for the same price and selling it in under an hour. Why is that?

The item which is listed for the lowest price is sold first. Items with equal price are sold "randomly".

The number you see in the sales history is the price paid for the item - not the price it was listed for.

If an item has 300 listings, and you list it for 200 gil - the same price all the recent sales history show, you will very unlikely sell it any time soon, as many listings no doubt are at 199, 198.. etc gil.

Always undercut. If you're not comfortable meaningfully undercutting, atleast go 2-6 gil below so that you can at least get ahead of the people dumb enough to list an item for a whole #.

Also if you list it for 199 instead of 200 saves you on gil on commission ;)

I recommend undercutting by nine, 49, or 99 gil, depending on the price of the item, your comfort with losing money, and how fast they sell.
