Is War/Whm a decent combo to level while working towards gettting Pld? Will parties not invite if you have this combo going? |

In case this isn't a troll post and a legitimate question from a new player, no war/whm is not a good combo. The mp provided from whm sub is so low that it's negligent in helping you stay alive. You are better off /mnk for 8% counterattack until 24 (or 30 if new) when you can /nin for utsusemi (which gives you shadows which absorb up to three attacks) for defense. |

Grab a Great Axe, sub MNK, level to 30 much faster then go and play PLD. Playing with sword and board warriors is miserable. |

If you want to do that you should still get invites as war/whm as it is much closer to PLD at those valkurm dune levels. War just has lower shield skill and mp. Better to use an axe rather than sword though. lvl 20+ /mnk with gaxe is better tank unless you were to use refresh juices. Personally I'd just go Gaxe for damage and the shield break ws debuff which helps the whole party. Mp would be low yeah but at that level max mp is not as major as restoring mp (galka pld barely has mp after all, and elvaan vs /whm might be comparable too idk though). |

Thanks for the tips. I think I may just go the traditional route and do War/Mnk until I can get Pld and Nin. |

Nothing says pld nerd quite like you going war/whm before lv30. It would slow you down considerably, but then again, we have some players exping their characters toward endgame without subjobs unlocked. So, why not? w |

I remember being a noob back in NA PC launch of FFXI in 2003. I was a level 28 WAR subbing WHM, because I wanted to be a PLD. I remember not knowing where to go, besides hang out in Qufim Island with my flag up all day. Unsurprisingly, I never got an invite. |

I've tanked my first Dunes in Nasomi as a mono-job WAR with sword and board... I didn't know I wasn't supposed to and kept doing it with a shield as WAR/MNK up to 30. It wasn't so bad and I don't remember other people dying for it... because I was with sensible people, like the THF didn't blow his load at the start of every fight and stabbed to kill with a skillchain. If you don't lose aggro as a WAR/WHM, eh why not? If you're a Taru you might even still have more MP for Cure Enmity than my Galka PLD at the same level. >_> |
