Are fished up monsters supposed to attack you when you have sneak? Fished up a crab while I had sneak, and he proceeded to wreck me. Was expecting sneak to stay on....is that "normal ffxi" or add that to the list of things i wish i knew about FFXI Nasomi? |

Pretty sure you stay invisible when fishing too -- which is not how it should be. In retail, pretty sure you lose this when you activate fishing. |

I think so too, but if I recall correctly sneak should remain since it doesn't prevent you from interacting with things like invisible does (Invisible shouldn't automatically drop either, it should just give you the usual "you cannot perform this command while invisible" message). According to Google results it seems that you're correct and that mobs that detect only by sound shouldn't aggro when fished, so it's probably a bug. Still it's not the wisest idea to fish monsters when sneaked (that's why I've never done it myself) because even if it worked correctly, if sneak drops for any reason you may end up with all the mobs you fished up attacking you at the same time. Also note that fished up mobs are virtually always higher level than most other mobs in the same zone. I think it's just not worth the risk, if you're not in a really low level area don't reel in monsters. Having to fish while sneaked is not a good idea in the first place. I sometimes use s/i to get to the fishing area but if the fishing area itself is not safe I don't fish (the only exception is when fishing for guild points if I only need to catch 3-4 items and warp away). |

A ton of things are broken with fishing here. For starters, mobs you fish up don't even spawn claimed to the player who fished them up - when they did on retail. This leaves the fished up monster free to claim for any person willing to wait for someone to fish them up and get a free claim while said fisher is locked in the 2 second animation of putting their rod away. This is especially apparent with something like a high traffic fishing spot like Devil Manta. Yes it's a rare occurrence someone would actually do this but I only bring this up, because it has happened in the past and should absolutely be changed so people can't abuse this. |

OP, you are correct. In retail, you could prevent fished up mobs from aggroing you by using sneak. That is not the case here. When you fish up a mob, the game automatically adds you to the hate list associated with whatever enemy is assigned as the fished up mob. Sometimes when there is a lot of fishing activity in a zone, you won't actually have a mob pop behind you. This can happen if there is a leftover/extant fished up mob. If this happens, the leftover/extant mob will travel, sometimes over hilariously large distances, to attack you. If you want to prevent them from attacking you, you need to avoid fishing them up. |

Actually some times it takes them so long for a fished-up mob to reach your position that by the time it does it's already lost all hate and won't aggro at all (happened to me several times with crabs and pugs), it'll just wonder around - until you fish another mob of the same type, which won't spawn at all but instead the previous one will suddenly aggro you. |
