Did the dragon go white the instant the tank(last actor on dragon) red dotted? Or did it go white when the tank DCed from the game?

Just tested on normal mobs, things do not go unclaimed the moment you red dot in solo or party situations. Unless things are different on the alliance scale, whoever had initial claim did not touch the mob with anyone before the tank fully d/ced apparently.

I can assure you we had multiple alliance members cast on Fafnir before the tank d/cd and it still went unclaimed. Definitely a bug here. I am guessing it will go unclaimed if whoever has the highest emnity d/cs, leaves zone, ect. I havent tested this theory but another person I know lost a KV in a similar fashion. They slept it a few times, had someone else sleep/cast on it and then warped to change jobs. It still went unclaimed.



Update: I did some testing and I get the mob to go unclaimed every time when whoever did the last action to the mob d/cs regardless if anyone else in the party has acted on it. That still doesnt explain how the KV went unclaimed, but does explain Faf today. Our tank was trying to relog to clear the lag. On his screen he was disengaged but I believe someone said he was still hitting it as he was red dotting. This could also be the cause of thief hide making things go unclaimed as well.

Seems as though if you are tanking and your fellow tank red dots, you had better get hate before the d/c completes or your mob turns into a reclaim off. As long as it didn't turn white when the red dot process started, but only when the d/c was complete, I don't see it as a major malfunction.

I just confirmed in my update that hate doesnt matter at all. Its all about last action. So you better hope whoever d/cs is not swinging at it. Also this is definitely a bug, a mob should never go unclaimed if other people have acted on it regardless of last action, who has hate, ect.

Correct, it's also a lot less of a hassle than if it immediately went yellow upon red dotting like was speculated at the start of the thread.

Well, the chain of action (According to Colbey's combat logs IIRC) was:

DCing tank took his last swing, hasn't been able to act on Faf outside auto swings for a good amount of time now due to lag.

1 sec later I flashed (Faf resisted, but should still generate threat I assume). I should've been second on his hate list, and last action before tank DC'd.

A split second later it went yellow (First tank DC complete) and got reclaimed before I could engage and shield bash it.

I'd call that a pretty important bug that needs to be addressed. Once claim is established, a creature should file through the claiming alliance's members according to it's hate list until everyone that's acted on it is dead to the last man or flees the zone. I'm not sure we could've kept claim even if I had thought to dump Sentinel/Invincible/Shield Bash and a third flash on it before the DC completed.

But knowing it's a potential problem means we can at least find ways to work around it. Much as it would suck to start an HNM with all your 'Oh Shit' buttons on cooldown, it's better than not getting a chance to start it at all after losing claim to cheese. It's frustrating, but it is what it is.

I've depopped a KV because I hid on THF while I had aggro, and it instantly depopped, despite 11 other people currently autoing/casting on it. None of those other actions mattered, it force depopped. I know its not the same scenario, but there definitely are some strange bugs in the claim system.

I was in the alliance. We were actively fighting it while the tank was redpearled. He was on Discord letting us know that he was relogging and to tell him as soon as his character disappeared from the game.

As soon as that happened, the dragon went white and someone else claimed it. It still had hate on us and was even still attacking us, but another alliance had claim.

I knew this was likely and tried to tell our 2nd tank to generate as much hate as possible before the d/c, but it didn't happen.

Just unfortunately Nasomi server BS at work. Several of our alliance members couldn't even see the dragon due to the insane number of people in the zone (for day 3, lol).
