Hi,

This reads more like a guide than the subject lead me to think (was wondering if you were offering your caught fish for gil to crafters). Typically guides fit better over in the crafting section viewforum.php?f=20 where there are other guides for crafting.

I haven't ever had anyone ask me to fish for them before. I always NPC everything.

For new fishers, 0-9 doing bastore sardines (composite/sabiki) is the way to go. Quus cap at 19 but you'll rarely skill on them. You gotta be in port windy for your first test anyway so bang it out.

Also, I preferred jugner (composite/sinking minnow) from 9 to 33 even though you get a lot of casts lost due to low skill at first, you are eligible to catch a new fish at 11 (giant catfish), 13 (dark bass), 15 (crystal bass) , 17 (shining trout), and at 33 switch to rogue rig to pull in red terrapin to get to 35.

You start with Cheval salmon, tricolored carp, and moats, and as you skill you get the others mixed in so you're leveling on a bit of everything as you go.

Just outpost warp and you're steps from the stream.

You can also just switch to the minnow lure in Qufim when you get ready to start catching bluetails. You get some missed catches due to skills, but you still make good gil and are right next to an OP warp.

I know this is an old thread but askign for some advice here,
Im only lvl 17 whm, fishing in Qufim is impossible.
However, Lower Jeuno has Tiger Cod and Nosteau herrings, would I see skill ups here at level 20 fishing?

That works for pure fishing skill but not so much for gil. Consider crayfish balls on the ship for Nebimonite that sell for more. The secret to doing it as a 17whm is just to make sure you do not go outside above deck when there are pirates. I paid for my whm teleport scrolls that way in era retail.

After about 2 months and a lot of work, I reached my goal of a million gill and did it on my daughters level 18 whitemage.
This needs to be pinned. Great guide.

0-5 Clothes pole/Sabiki in Port Bastok area or Port Windy is much better than Selbina fyi.
