getting closer to lvl 75 rng and this would be my first 75. knowledgeable on end game gear and would like help understanding which items i should be using to optimize my job. Any Info on NM's that drop good gear, stats i should be stacking, or anything in general on end game ranger infomation would be greatly appreciated ^^ Thank You, Chetara |

It's been a very long time but I mained Ranger back in retail and I think this is what I wore: Main: Vulcan's Staff (crafted and used only when /SAM) Dual Wield it was Francesca (drooped by Aquarius in Boyahda Tree) / Hawker's Knife +1 (crafted) Bow: Eurytos' Bow (drops from Eastern Shadow) or Hellfire + 1 (crafted) Head: Wyvern Helm +1 (crafted) or Optical Hat (hakutaku eye cluster) Neck: PCC (pcc from Argus) Breeze Gorget (Sea) Ears: Suppanomimi (RoZ reward) / Fenrirs (fenrir fight) / I don't recall the other earring, i think when i was /nin it was genin (from a bcnm, i bought off AH) Body: Kirin's Osode (sky) Hands: Sieryu's Kote / W Hands (sky for both) Rings: Behemoths' for Racc (AH) - Rajas (CoP reward) /Flame (AH) for WS Back: Amemet +1 (AH) Waist: Scout's Belt (Dyn Juneo/Bubu?) Legs: W Legs (sky) / Scouts Legs (Dyn-Bubu/Dyn Sandy) Feet: Trotters (Simurgh) Pretty sure I missed a ton but those are the items I remember having. If you're into Xbow be sure to grab Othinus' Bow. I had a Racc set for TP and a WS set but unfortunately it's been like 10 years and I cannot remember all the gear I had. |

AGI has a higher modifier (50%) than STR (20%) for the WS itself, but STR, if Nas damage formulas are accurate, will provide higher overall damage. https://web.archive.org/web/20090807092 ... isdata.htm has the details, but the main thing you care about is: Quote: WD: Base damage of your WS D: Base damage of your weapon (e.g., Espadon = 43) fSTR: difference between your STR and target's VIT WSC: Secondary attribute like STR_30 (30% of your STR). fTP: Multiplier (Please see chart below). PDIF: (your ATK/target's DEF) for melee WS there is a damage cap on PDIF of 2.4, for ranged WS it is capped at 3 Actual Damage of WS is then calculated in this way. Ranged Damage = WD * PDIF = ((D + fSTR2 + WSC) * fTP) * PDIF Your STR comes into play on the fSTR2, WSC, and PDIF values, and even though it has less than half the value of AGI in WSC, between the value it does provide in WSC, that value is more than compensated for in the fSTR2 portion of the calculation, before we even get into PDIF. PDIF has a cap (3 for ranged), so if you're at that cap, further STR won't assist with damage on the PDIF portion, but should still be more valuable than AGI for similar values. |

STR always increases fSTR by 1 for every STR, weird huh? WS mods contribute to fSTR also but only by a fraction. |

I prefer agi to str since it is a modifier as well as gives extra accuracy. If we're talking endgame, you're probably just setting up a skillchain, which means the number you're putting out being a few points higher cause of str is not as important as just landing the thing to make the skillchain happen. If I'm in misareaux coast trying to give myself a hardon, or doing something like Alastor Antlion or other lower level content, I'd stack all the strength. |
