Post patch, the timers on all forms of these are wonky. Tonko and Monomi are 1-5mins I think. Items are 1-5mins White magic are 2-6. (Up to the normal 8 with Skulkers) None of these are consistent. All are wonky. I could see items being the random variant, and the upper end on those are a buff but the spells are all nerfed as hell, and we just got monomi finally. Why was this stealth tweaked? |

The rationale given before with items being hightly variable was that its part of the adventure, You should become friends with a mage or level a mage job. (Source: Nasomi via live stream when asked if items would be adjusted. He said no and gave the above rationale). With the current timers one mage and one melee going through a zone that requires sneak and invis is a chore. One mage and multiple non-sneak/invis enabled people is somewhere between a headache and a nightmare. I've taken to spamming sneak/invis until I get 4min + version, then repeating until I get the same effect on the next character. Otherwise its a constant state of annoyance as sneak wears off on someone and a completely non-threatening crab aggros you. That isnt having an adventure, its apparently having a level 75 job who cant reliably cast a level 20 spell to decent effect. For reference on 15 casts back to back of invisible last night my duration results were: * 6 - 2min (useless) * 3 - 3min (annoying) * 3 - 4min (fine) * 3 - 5min (feels great post patch, was kinda the norm pre-patch) * 0 - 6min (ive heard this happens) Yes its a small sample size - but even if its an equal distribution its still just a time (and mp) waster 50% of the time. Even though this "in era" behavior, I dont think its a change worth having in the game - especially considering that we dont have other in-era transportation features like warps from home nations to whitegate. |

From what my ls can tell, spell duration seems to be based on enhancing magic skill. |

And I don't know if thats entirely true, since I see WHM's and RDM's also having the same issues. ---- Not gonna quote tib's stuff for its a block-ish, but I might stand in town and cast a couple hundred Invis and share my findings on duration. Maybe do a thousand but I doubt I'll have the patience to do that and document it. Maybe I'll do half on SMN and half on Blm or something. |

A RDM I know with capped Enhancing said his timers seemed "normal". Just one data point, but we guessed it was just tied to skill now. The Monomi change... beats me. |

This fix is just a headache. Nothing more. It's just fucking pointless to fix. Who the fuck cares if it was a bug? It's a quality of life improvement over what it is now. I mean how would anyone think this is a good idea? Think 8 minutes is too long? Fine. Knock it down to 6 minutes max. Knock it down to 5. But making it variable down to where you roll 1 minute casts most of the time? Jesus Christ. |

Now it's how it was in 2005 and 2006, it was kinda silly how it was on this server, kind of just made it so you needed a friend or a dual box and you were fine to get through any zone, now it seems very accurate to retail |
