Read all of the books, more than once. I know what Aegon means. It doesn’t make the position of calling people that only watch the show lesser, or the show fan fiction, a less stupid opinion.

Because the only reason at all, that Ned lied to Cat and claimed to the world that Jon was a bastard, was because he knew Robert would have murdered the baby. In the blink of an eye.

I don't doubt that, but if Ned had simply told the bastard lie to the world, then up-jumped him to a true Stark name... and at the same time told Cat the truth, all of that mess could have been avoided.
