| Post subject: | Laptop Lag |
I am running in to heavy lag on my laptop when I am in parties or when there is multiple mobs in the area and I also notice that even when I am not lagging my laptop fan runs constantly. Also when I start lagging there is tremendous delay with macro and menu control using my ps4 controller. I also notice that this game doesnt run on my geforce 1650 when I am playing so it must be starting up through my display card? I am not very computer savvy so im not 100% sure what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. My pc specs are - Intel i7-9750h 2.6ghz, 32 gb ram, 1tb ssd, intel uhd graphics 630 (display), Nvidia Geforce GTX 1650, 64 bit os. |

Shut down FFXI, download the file below, extract the d3d8.dll and d3d8.ini files out of it and drop them in your ffxi-bootmod folder next to boot.exe (in your Ashita folder, where you put that - probably "C:\Program Files (x86)\NasomiXI\SquareEnix\Ashita\ffxi-bootmod" by default iirc.. I pointed my install elsewhere). File: https://forums.ashitaxi.com/download/fi ... 6b6ee31001 Forum link, if you'd rather read and click the link yourself: https://forums.ashitaxi.com/viewtopic.php?t=855 If you get weird shadow effects (you probably will, I do on my GTX 1650), you'll want to open that d3d8.ini file in Notepad or something and go all the way down to the bottom and change the "0" to a "1" here: [Fix_ShadowZFighting] enabled = 0 change to: [Fix_ShadowZFighting] enabled = 1 Then restart FFXI again. You'll only have to do all of the above once. |

Thank You so much Gollum! This has made a tremendous difference in gameplay. The only shadow problems ive noticed was going through the caves in the dunes the shadows were bouncing all over so ill edit the .ini file. Other than that I have noticed zero lag, my cooling fan isnt running, and my controller is super responsive and I have even turned my other settings back up and there still is no lag. I noticed that the game still isnt running on my geforce card but it seems to be running perfectly fine this way so it doesnt matter much. Thanks again bud I really appreciate the help! |
