Regardless of name, I get to choose a city and when I do an error pops up. Something about the Lobby server being down. Been a few days of trying, what am I doing wrong? Error Code:FFXI-3101 Transmission error with lobby server Read about how this error means the name is taken, every attempt I completely shut down the client and start fresh. New name every time, I've started making them very complex, still after I choose a city the error pops up. |

Anyone find a resolution to this? I am having the same problem. Error 3101. Cannot progress character creation beyond choosing city. |

This error is due to the character name already taken most likely. |

Exactly what hamster said. If there is any complication in the creation of your character it just won't work. A more unique name is generally the fix here. If you want to test it just create an absurd character name to make sure it works, then delete it before making a real character. |
