Just logged in successfully today on a 2015 MacBook Pro running Catalina 10.15.1. I bought a Windows 10 Pro key on eBay for very cheap and have boot camped it. Works fine, just struggling with graphics settings and gamepad settings but other than that it works great.

THIS WORKS

I tested this out on my main box, it took a some fiddling. I run Fedora 24.

I downloaded the nasomi installer and the imm32.dll.so.

Remove your current version of wine

Install Playonlinux. :~$ sudo dnf install playonlinux

Once installed use playonlinux to install nasomi. This takes some exploration. You will need to create a new virtual drive for playonlinux to install things. I just set mine under /home/robknobknocker.

Once installed you will need to configure playonlinux to install and run programs under a wine 3.8 environment. This is under the config menu.

The you need to replace imm32.dll.so with the one downloaded. Make a copy of the original file as a backup. The file to replace in under ~/.PlayonLinux/wine/linux-x86/3.8/lib/wine

Now start PlayonLinux. The config programs will run fine, but there is an extra step for boot.exe. Select Ashita (or anything) and on the left menu select configure. Navigate the tabs till you see an option to open a command prompt. Do that, and then get to the ashita directory in your playonlinux virtual drive. Make sure to switch drives to C: Remember, we are in DOS now.

C:
cd \program files\nasomixi\squareenix\ashita\ffxi-bootmod
boot

then you should get the familiar nasomi screen.

Lemme know if there are any questions.

Does this still work for you? I am following directions as close as possible and the moment I swap out imm32.dll.so it breaks Wine 3.8 causing command prompt and wine config to crash when opened. Maybe I need new imm32 but strange it has gotten me in game by other means.

I just wanted to post my experience as I know a lot of people have issues on Mac.

I originally followed this guide and managed to get it to install but had a lot of zone crashes, particularly OP warps / teles / mog house / specific areas and cutscenes (notably PM1-1 in Lower Delkfutt's Tower and PM2-3 Mammets). A common problem for Mac users following this guide.

After installing Catalina 10.15.1 I realised this isn't supported by Wine so resulted in installing Windows 10 via bootcamp as per Katasaifa's post above. Works perfectly! Can even dual box now and the game runs so much smoother.

However, I still had issues on my macbook which doesn't have enough harddrive space to install Windows as well. I uninstalled everything and really struggled to get things up and running again (running 10.13.6 High Sierra). I tried over and over again, not really sure what I did differently to finally get it to work, but I got it reinstalled. And guess what! No more crashes!

I struggled massively playing the game constantly crashing for over a year. I thought this was the best my Mac could do. If you are a Mac user and are having these same problems I would highly recommend installing Windows via bootcamp OR if you don't have the available harddrive space—it's a bit risky but—uninstall everything and try reinstalling it. It solved the problem for me, I figured I must have missed something important the first time doing it!

Anyone finding this guide in 2020 can also check out my DMG guide here for running the app in 32BIT WineSkin: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=14358

There's 3 steps to download the wrapper, already configured, and also the more Advanced Steps to build your own Wrapper.

Any luck getting this to work on LInux? I've followed the directions and the wiki is down so I don't know if I downloaded the right .dll.so files but I get this error when I finally run boot.exe

can anyone help me out?

I'm running Ubuntu GamePack 20.04

UPDATE:

I've gotten it to run, load, get to the terms and agreement, when I agree and hit accept it loads and crashes and gives me this error::

Hello, i am a returning player. the last time i logged in was some time last year, at that point i had no issue logging in via wine/terminal. i tried to boot the game up in the same fashion that i was accustom to last year but now i get an error in terminal related to wine i guess? "zsh: bad CPU type in executable: wine". any idea how to fix this? i am not very good with computers...it was a miracle that i managed to get the game working on my macbook in the first place lol! thanks

Thank you! Worked great on Mac. This is probably obvious, but didn't need imm32.dll.so and some of the file paths were different on mac. Other than that, great guide!!! :D :D :D

Also, If it helps anyone, I've updated my scripts with the new paths. This way I can launch FFXI and its configuration tool straight from the doc.

To launch FFXI:
tell application "Terminal"
reopen
activate
do script "cd ~/.wine/drive_c/NasomiXI/SquareEnix/Ashita/ffxi-bootmod/" in window 1
delay 2
do script "wine boot.exe --server nasomi.com --hairpin" in window 1
end tell

To launch FFXI Config:
tell application "Terminal"
reopen
activate
do script "cd ~/.wine/drive_c/NasomiXI/SquareEnix/'FINAL FANTASY XI'/ToolsUS/" in window 1
delay 2
do script "wine 'FINAL FANTASY XI Config.exe'" in window 1
end tell

Plug the bootable Linux USB drive into your Mac. Turn on your Mac while holding down the Option key. You will then see the boot manager with a list of available devices you can boot from. Select your USB stick and hit enter.http://myaccountaccess.live/http://krog ... ack.today/
