So I play this game just fine and so does my daughter. However, the wife who has the newest computer and it's a gaming computer (Inspiron 15 7000 gaming) can't even get the controller to recognize on the game. I've gone into gamepad config to enable and nothing. I've chosen setup E and nothing. I've tried PS4 through dpad and nothing. Tried wired Xbox one controller and nothing. Tried Xbox 360 and nothing. It just will not recognize the controller at all. I'm starting to go crazy trying to figure this out. Her computer recognizes the controllers but the game does not.

Unfortunately that doesn't work either. I've made sure it is the only plugged in device. Restarted computer, and still nothing.

Not sure if this matters but its actually a Xbox 360 Pro EX remote for the wired one. PS4 Pro remote for the wireless one.

Also, I noticed on hers that the xinput is grayed out in the gamepad config box

I would suggest downloading and installing the updated DirectX drivers from microsoft here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... px?id=6812

The only part of that file that I installed was the Runtimes. I'm pretty sure thats all you need from the kit.

Be aware that later versions of DirectX (DirectX 11 and onward) already include xInput drivers and should not require this fix.

I downloaded this last night but fell asleep waiting. I finished the install this morning and tried to play with controller and still got nothing. I will restart her computer when I get home from work and try again. I really don't understand why her laptop is giving me such fits when hers is much much much newer than mine and the daughter's.

Also, thank you very much for sitting here with me and trying to figure this out. I am not the greatest with computers so this has me at a loss. All the information you give helps me learn a little bit more. So thank you.

All it takes is a fancy keyboard with a touchpad on it or a usb keypad with a analog stick on it to make the controller you use not function. If its not the xinput drivers needing updating or another installed device attempting to work with ffxi, I am also at a loss.

It can't be many thing other than this. I would take a second look.

I am not sure if her keyboard is anything special, however, if I find it is. If I disable it will it cause it not to work on her computer?
