Post subject:  Game/Launchers do not start
I tried to get some help earlier today in NasChat, and despite some really helpful suggestions nothing managed to fix the issue and I _Really_ want to play FFXI again!
The .bat NasLauncher dosen't work, neither does running straight from Ashita.
I know I shouldn't run it from the playonline directly, but I've tried that aswell. It "opens" but I can only view it if I tab and look at the window that way, it's impossible to bring it up to front otherwise. Unsure if that's a common issue, but figured I'd mention it

I'll list some of the things I've tried to do to fix the issue;

DirectPlay is on
Running as Admin
Tried Running from the Ashita bootmods
Reinstalling
making sure I have the x32bit Vcredists installed
Installing it on a portable drive rather than C:/
Making exceptions in my Antivirus
Re-running the installer and skipping the file transfer phase

I think that's about it, I can't think of much else to do.
I've seen some other forum posts with a similiar issue, but they never had any replies on them so if it's just me being incredibly stupid, which is likely, feel free to try point out the obvious mistake I'm probably making.

Tell me exactly what you're doing to launch and what you mean by "does not start". What point can you get to before there is a problem?

I don't know how I can reply to that other than I get no errors, I just right click the .exe or .bats, depending on the file i try to launch from and run it as an admin. Nothing opens, or if it does it VERY quickly closes because I have yet to even catch it appear on the task manager.

Correct, even Ashita will not open. I'm really confused why since I didn't mess with any of the files.

I'm currently redownloading the installer from the direct download rather than the torrent incase the installer did not download correctly and going to try it that way, but that download is going to take a while.

Hello again, I managed to get it working! The Installer from the direct download rather than torrent actually was able to do an installation phase I didn't notice the other one even attempt to do, which was add the files to the registry. Nice! I ran into another issue shortly after though, where the windows would be open but would refuse to be allowed to be selected and brought to the front, this was caused by Discord.

Discord can give me trouble in some games when I run them as an admin, seems to throw a hissy fit that it isn't the highest priority and it wasn't allowing the windows to pop-up. This isn't relevant to my original issue but I figured I'd shoot that out there incase someone ever has an issue with it and has to google it like I did, since I didn't even manage to fix the issue until it started doing it to Final Fantasy XIV too and I might suggest adding a bit to the installer to prevent idiots like me to remember to turn off any background programs while installing.

I am currently having an issue, I try to run the game and it tells me "Failed to connect to server... closing. It has worked fine for three days and now this. I don't know what's wrong with it. Any advice would be helpful.

Getting this issue as well. I was logged in this morning, went to lunch, came back found i was disconnected and haven't been able to get back on since.

I logged on for three minutes, changed my job in Selbina, flagged up and boom, I am out of the game again. I will wait for a bit and try and log on again in a bit. Today I can party like a rock star in the dunes all day so its on! Soon as the server comes back up.

The server went down due to a db issue. Twice. You both had bad timing. It's up and working now.
