just to note I have talked to all the npc's many times enev gone back to sandy to talk to halver ok. Ghrom will not give pick axes so I just went to mines and got sand. Savae give me first CS yet will not take the sand when i try and trade it to him.

Did you talk to Pius before talking to Grohm? You need to trigger the Lion cutscene before you can turn in the sand.
