I just spend many days and gil doing the chocobo quest so I could have my own chocobo and find out that the quest is obsolete in this game. It would be so nice from Nasomi to list all the things in this game that are turn off or not working from the original game. I used to play this game many years ago and came back recently but there are many things in this game that don't work. I'm very disappointed. I got my wife, daughter and grandson playing plus myself. But just today after getting the chocobo egg went to Sandoria just to find out by other gamers that this don't work in this server. And like that many other things like AH prices outrageous, can't find armor or weapons to use for your level. No way to make some money crafting or other jobs. Someone needs to fix this or as I heard many people are leaving this server. |

It's not "turned off" - it's just not coded yet. Nas doesn't just flip switches to turn stuff on and off. See my signature for ways for brand new players to make money. As far as the prices on the Auction House, those are all set by players. It's a fully living, breathing economy. No one can make them lower or raise their prices. |

Chocobo raising is a ToAU activity which would take far too long to code at this point. I'd much rather Nas/those helping him use their time to fix things that are broken/not working properly. FFXI is about the grind, embrace it or get left behind. There are ways for low levels to make money, hell even threads in the Main Chat dedicated specifically to that. If you are having problems affording weapons/armor/scrolls then you need to look at where you are spending your time in game. CP gear is available at level 10 and fairly simple to get. |

Chocobo raising is a lot more disappointing than you'd expect. Basically a daily cutscene that gets repetitious as heck. Eventually, you see them all over and over. Most of the playerbase stopped checking on their chocobos and let them run away. |

What I propose is for Nasomi to make a list of things that are not working so new players don't waste their time. It would be nice to have a chocobo available when you needed than to have to find a npc to rent one. I love the game and as I stated before I used to play it long time ago, so I'm not a newby. As for making money I found ways but still prices are outrageous. |

I always ask my LS or search the forums. You eventually learn what works and doesn't work. Nasomi is doing this all on his own dime and time, so I'm grateful that he has given us this opportunity to relive the past. As for not being able to gear up, what level are you? You can buy equipment from NPCs for a decent price and honestly a lot of people level the dunes in their starting RSE gear. I don't think it impedes you from experiencing the game early on. Yes at some point you will need to stop and farm/craft but I didn't need to start doing that til after dunes level. Like others have said, you can get decent gear through Conquest Points so I'd look into that. Hold on to all drops and sell to NPC or google to find out if they can be used in a quest that rewards gil. If you're really hurting for money then you should maybe invest into fishing. Just need a clothespole (900G on AH) and little worms to get started. |
