I got super excited when I saw this private server, but twice now I have died whilst my HP is not 0. I have no idea what is going on or what is causing it, please help

This only happens on the final killing blow as a temporary fix for a bug which automatically sends you to your homepoint on death. You still got hit, you just don't see the killing blow in the log, and so your HP in the UI doesn't reflect this either. There is a permanent, real fix coming for the actual issue (automatic sending back to homepoint) which will allow nas to remove the temporary fixes for it, like this one. |

Looking forward to that fix. Presumably that will fix reraise getting wiped when this workaround happens too? |

Gods be praised, if you're sent a million miles back to your homepoint when you died in a crucial place with reraise on, you're gonna have a bad time. |

If you're really curious and someone else is around, they will have seen the damage in their log so you could ask. |
